Erik ten Hag takes exception to Fulham video on Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes
Manchester United had a poor outing against Fulham at Old Trafford last weekend. The visitors not only controlled majority of the game but also successfully had a tactical upper-hand.
The Londoners went back with three points in the bag thanks to a injury time goal by Alex Iwobi. This was Fulham’s first win at Old Trafford since 2003 and just second since 1963.
This was Manchester United’s first loss in six outings in the Premier League. This leaves the Red Devils sixth in the table with 44 points. They are still eight points below Aston Villa in the fourth spot.
Erik ten Hag demands Fulham apology
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag criticized Fulham after his side’s Wednesday’s FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest. The Dutchman was reacting to criticism suggesting that his captain simulated an injury against the Cottagers.
Erik ten Hag has called on Fulham to apologize for what in his opinion is mocking Bruno Fernandes. Ahead of the big derby against Manchester City on Sunday, Erik Ten Hag was asked about a TikTok post from Fulham which showed Manchester United’s captain Bruno Fernandes going down during the Saturday’s Premier League game, then getting back up again and swiftly recovering. The TikTok video also had the caption: “So glad he’s OK …”
Erik ten Hag demanded apology from Fulham, as relayed by the Guardian:
“I didn’t know this, but if they did it I would say it is not right. It is absolutely not right that a club makes such a statement, because it is totally out of order and they were wrong so they should apologise for this.”
The Dutch boss in-charge of United also believes that Nottingham Forest targeted Bruno:
“He is a very passionate football player and he’s a very creative one, he has created the most chances in the Premier League.
“You see opponents are targeting him and especially after Saturday when he had the knock and they see it, and then I feel the referee should protect him there. They had to change at the start of the game because it was so obvious they were looking for him.”

While we are glad to see Ten Hag back up his skipper, Bruno Fernandes does himself few favours thanks to his conduct on the field. The Portuguese ace is a brilliant player but his antics are unbecoming of a Manchester United player let alone the captain. Internally, we hope Ten Hag also urges Fernandes to cut out on his antics and stop giving rivals ammo to fire at him with.
