Erik ten Hag thrilled by the timing of Manchester United star Casemiro’s winner vs Nottingham
Manchester United are in the quarter finals of the FA Cup following their late 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground much to the relief of Erik ten Hag. It was a close game, one that looked set to go into extra-time but a late goal by the Red Devils sealed their spot in the final eight of the competition.
Brazilian midfielder Casemiro scored for the visitors in the final minute of normal time which proved enough for Manchester United to seal a 1-0 win. This came four days after a disappointing day at the office when they lost to Fulham at Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag on the late winner by Casemiro
The FA Cup is an opportunity for Manchester United to salvage what has been a poor season so far. Securing a trophy for the second season in a row should lay the foundation for what Jim Ratcliffe plans for the Red Devils
Erik ten Hag spoke about the goal and the game in his post-match press conference (h/t Manchester United’s official website), speaking about the late winner the Dutch boss said:
“It’s the best time to score at the end. On Saturday, we felt defeat in stoppage time. Today, we scored just before the end of the time, so we scored at the right moment.”
Conceding the stoppage time winner to Fulham left us with a sore taste in the mouth. Flipping the same onto Nottingham was in some ways a remedy of sorts. Hopefully we can now rekindle our fortunes and push on to secure silverware this season.
Scoring before the extra time would come as a big relief to players’ legs. The added bonus of avoiding another 30 minutes amidst the busy schedule furthers adds to our relief.

For the quarter finals of the FA Cup, Manchester United are drawn against arch-rivals Liverpool. Though before that they visit the City neighbours Manchester City for a Premier League match. A result against Pep Guardiola’s side very important for confidence of the squad as well as the bragging rights.
