Manchester United target ready to return to Barcelona as key summer awaits
Manchester United are struggling to put up their first choice defensive partnership largely owing to Lisandro Martinez’ injury concerns this season.
Raphael Varane has not looked his best at Manchester United. Harry Maguire is still getting into his groove and is inconsistent to play at a side like Manchester United. His antics was what gave Fulham a chance at three points at Old Trafford last weekend.
When the summer transfer window arrives, Manchester United may need to find replacements for the likes of Raphael Varane, Jonny Evans, and Harry Maguire. The Reds from Manchester have been linked with OGC Nice’s defender Jean-Clair Todibo.
His incoming can come to be a crucial addition for Manchester United. The 24-year-old French defender possesses the physical strength complemented by technical qualities that can make an immediate impact in English football and in the Premier League.
Todibo was expected to leave the French club in January but he ended up staying. It will be easier to sign the player for the Red Devils owing to their Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s influence at OGC Nice.
A Catalan drive
Alongside Manchester United, Chelsea and Barcelona are also subject to interest in the French centre-back. However, the Premier League duo might have suffered a blow in their Jean-Clair Todibo pursuit.
In an interview with Canal+, which was relayed by Barca Blaugranes, the 24-year-old has indicated that he would be open to any move that takes him back to Camp Now and to his former club Barcelona. This comes despite strong interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.
Jean-Clair went on to admit that when he was at Barcelona for his initial stint he was not ready to be a starter for the Spanish giants.
“When I arrived at Barça, the plan was for me to replace Pique. I had the qualities to do it but I wasn’t ready to do it. A return to Barça? Why not?”
Clearly that has changed since Todibo has built himself a solid reputation in Ligue 1. With Xavi Hernandez set to step down, a new dawn at Barcelona could see new players form the squad.

While he wants to move to Barcelona, we might need to see if there are any funding available at Camp Nou to sign his services. If not, Manchester United should do all they can to land Todibo.
