Barcelona rocked in their efforts to land Premier League star on Manchester United radar
Manchester United and Barcelona require a midfield presence and it is something that needs addressing in the upcoming summer transfer window. The Red Devils are said to be in the market for a new defensive midfielder ahead of the 2024/25 season.
United are potentially preparing for Casemiro to be sold because of his underwhelming performances this season. Another midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is on loan from Fiorentina but has failed to hit the right notes and could also leave Old Trafford sooner rather than later.
Having a physical defensive midfielder is something that Erik ten Hag can do with. One of the names that has been linked with a move to Manchester United to fill such gaps is Everton defensive midfielder Amadou Onana.
The Belgian has impressed with his aerial abilities in the midfield under Sean Dyche at Goodison Park. He is also quick to cover ground and fill the gaps in the midfield. Arsenal are also keen on his services.
The Catalans moving for Amadou
According to a report by Sport, Barcelona made an initial bid for Amadou Onana. Everton are said to have rejected their approach. Whether the Spaniards will return with an improved offer remains to be seen.
The reports mention that Barcelona were looking to approach around €40million for the 22-year-old midfielder. Everton rejected the approach as the Toffees are looking for an increased offer. Forking out the right money will help secure the player.
Getting Arsenal, Barcelona, and Manchester United into a bidding war is ideal for Everton as they look to recoup as much money as they can for their star midfielder.
As of the time of writing, Everton are seeking a sum of around €60 million for Onana. A figure that Barcelona considers ‘exaggerated’. Perhaps United can secure the player and turn him into a beast for years to come. After all, at 22, he could provide us with a long term solution to a key area of the squad.

We need to wait and see the figure both the Premier League clubs would consider buying the Belgian for. We also have to see if Everton are forced to lower their demands if they face relegation in the summer.
