Manchester United are looking to take advantage of ‘pure profit’ loophole
Manchester United new owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be looking to take advantage of the ‘pure profit’ loophole to raise funds. ‘Pure profit’ loophole is when a club sells an academy player they can consider 100% of the funds as profits in their financial statements.
According to a report by Express, Manchester United are looking to sell both Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwoord to generate the funds. This can help the Red Devils to go on a spending spree and reinvent the team with new faces.
Getting around the PSR rules
The sale and recognition of the whole transfer fee as profit will also help Manchester United to stay on the right side of Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
The Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) will turn into sanctions by the FA if any of the club accrue any losses exceeding £105 million over a financial period of consecutive three-years.
The reds from Manchester were facing restrictions not able to sign anyone in January and the officials at United might be looking to offload a few underperforming players in the upcoming summer transfer window before they look to reinvest in the squad.
As per reports by Daily Mail, the Red Devils’ might be ‘tempted’ to sell Mason Greenwood and generate money bagging on his success on-loan at Getafe. Mason Greenwood has scored seven goals and provided five assists this season for Getafe in 24 appearances in all competitions.
