Eriksen may end up leaving Manchester United in the summer with return to Ajax on cards
Christian Eriksen has played just 15 games in the Premier League this season. His position in the starting eleven has been taken over in the last few weeks with Scott McTominay and Kobbie Mainoo making their presence felt under Erik ten Hag.
While Christian Eriksen found a way to stay at Old Trafford in the January transfer window, he might not be around for too long.
Now with the summer transfer window coming up, it is expected that Manchester United are going to make big changes. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are said to evaluate the futures of multiple first-team players who are either approaching the end of their contracts or are not part of manager Erik ten Hag’s plans.
No future for the Dane at Old Trafford?
Christian Eriksen has barely featured in the team since the turn of the year. He has only featured once and has been on the bench after last playing against Tottenham Hotspur.
While he could still be the most efficient passers of the ball at Manchester United, Eriksen struggles to keep up physically with the team.
When Eriksen last played for Manchester United he lost the ball five times and committed two fouls while winning only 33 per cent of his duels (all stats via Sofascore).
Despite those poor numbers he still managed to make two key passes.
Erik ten Hag likes someone who commands the midfield and brings energy to the game. This is why we have seen him put Scott McTominay from the bench more often. Scott brings that sense of presence offensively and is quick to track back and help the team defend.
A move back to Ajax?

Eriksen has a contract with the Reds from Manchester till 2025. He is said to be linked with a return to Ajax, according to Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb. The now 32-year-old arrived at Old Trafford on a free transfer and therefore any sale could amount to a transfer profit in Manchester United’s books.
The Dane is no longer able to manage the intensity in the league and might be better off moving to a club like Ajax. Let’s wait and see how his last few months in a Red Devils shirt pans out.
