Manchester United are also interested in Brentford target being touted as Ivan Toney’s replacement
According to Football Trasnfers (h/t ESPN), Manchester United are now in the running to sign Jonathan David, and Brentford have also been after the player as they believe that he can grow to be Ivan Toney’s replacement.
The funny part is that the Red Devils have also been repeatedly linked to Ivan Toney. Now, if Brentford lose the 27-year-old to one of the many clubs interested in him, they might not even get to sign a replacement.
Arsenal are said to be in the lead for Toney, which means that Manchester United will be in hot pursuit of Jonathan David. The 24-year-old’s fine form in the Premier League has put him on the radar of multiple clubs.
In 30 appearances, David has recorded 13 goals and six assists. His young age and stellar contributions mean that he would be a wonderful young signing for many prominent clubs.
Chelsea and Aston Villa are also reportedly interested in David, so Erik ten Hag will not be having an easy time chasing the Canadian’s signature.
However, there is still some doubt surrounding how David would fit in at Man United. The team already has one young star in Rasmus Hojlund, so the 24-year-old will likely have to play second fiddle to him.

Manchester United don’t have enough space in their attack to start both the Canadian and Hojlund. So, David, who is used to starting games, will likely not be too happy about a move to Old Trafford.
