Manchester United star couldn’t help but sing the praises of Diogo Dalot who was stellar against Aston Villa.
Scott McTominay may have scored the winning goal for Manchester United, but Aston Villa wouldn’t have been put to rest if it wasn’t for Diogo Dalot’s ‘unbelievable cross’
Even the Scottish midfielder knows that Dalot’s cross was of top quality. While talking to Sky Sports (h/t BBC), McTominay explained that he didn’t need to do a lot for his goal. Let’s have a look.
“It was an unbelievable cross to be fair, whipped with a lot of pace. I just needed it to hit my head and get it on target”
He says that the 24-year-old whipped his cross in with such precision and pace that all McTominay had to do was direct it correctly and it gave an easy goal for Manchester United.
However, if we’re talking about what led to the goal we have to appreciate the stellar footwork of Kobbie Mainoo. Stuck on the right flank, the 18-year-old showed some amazing footwork to put the ball at Dalot’s feet.
Another young star who was key to the win is 21-year-old Rasmus Hojlund who found the ball at his feet thanks to a light header from Harry Maguire. Erik ten Hag will be really pleased with the performance of his team’s young stars.
Thanks to Dalot and McTominay, Manchester United are now in a very good position to challenge for a top-four Premier League finish. A lot of people think that this means the comeback will be over soon.
