Manchester United legend is worried that their season might have been ‘killed’ during win against West Ham
Rio Ferdinand is worried that Manchester United’s season might have been ‘killed’ against West Ham. There were plenty of positives to take away from the game with stellar performances coming in from Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho.
However, the one negative that the team had far outweighed all of the good stuff that they did on the pitch. Lisandro Martinez following a collision with a West Ham player fell to the ground and screamed in pain while clutching his knee.
He has easily been the Red Devils’ best defender during the second half of the season. However, due to his injury against West Ham, we might not get to see the Argentina national for a long time.
Here’s what Rio Ferdinand said about the situation while on the FIVE podcast. (h/t Mirror)
“So, listen, if he’s out, it kills it. You can see with him and Luke Shaw on that side, when they’re together, they look so dominant, they look so confident, they look so composed with the ball.”
Ferdinand went on to say that all the injuries at Manchester United this season have been disappointing to see. He is convinced that Martinez is one of the most influential players on the team and losing him will have great repercussions.
However, the severity of Lisandro’s injury is yet to be determined. The doctors at Old Trafford are still running their tests and details are expected to be released soon.
Erik ten Hag said that Martinez’s injury looks ‘very serious’ and that the player himself is very disappointed about the whole ordeal.
