Manchester United are currently beating Real Madrid and Chelsea in their pursuit of Everton starlet.
According to Italian publication Corriere Dello Sport (h\t The Sun), Manchester United are in the lead to sign Everton starlet, Jarrad Branthwaite. Real Madrid and Chelsea are also reportedly interested in singing the 21-year-old.
The team is adamant about making improvements to their defence before the transfer window shuts down. 21-year-old, Branthwaite seems to be the most appropriate target for the task.
He towers most other players with his ridiculously long frame of 1.95m. Moreover, the player has excellent pace allowing him to recover quickly and is almost unbeatable in 1v1 situations.
Manchester United’s defence has been atrocious this season. Within the top ten teams in the Premier League, they are the only ones with a negative goal difference, so some changes are surely in order.
The team will anyway be going through major changes during the summer but Branthwaite seems to be a more immediate option. Valued at around £40m the 21-year-old is an expensive target, to say the least.
If the team ends up signing him before the transfer window closes, the fans can surely expect Manchester United to move on from Raphael Varane. The French star is getting old and has one of the highest wage bills across the squad.
