Manchester United are in talks to sign Sporting CP star
According to Portuguese Publication Record (h\t Caught Offside), Manchester United are now in talks to sign Sporting CP defensive midfielder, Morten Hjulmand.
The Red Devils need to sign a new defensive midfielder, as Casemiro’s best years are already behind him. The Danish national seems like the perfect candidate to replace the former Real Madrid star on the team.
However, a winter window transfer seems unlikely at the moment since the Old Trafford squad is low on money. The team is more likely to revisit the prospect of signing Hjulmand during the summer.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS are determined to make several changes to the squad next season and Hjulmand seems to be a part of their plans. If Erik ten Hag doesn’t get his squad together soon he might also be getting changed.
Standing tall at 1.85m, the 24-year-old is strong on the ball and will provide a massive boost to the squad. Moreover, the player is still very young and has room to grow even more making him an excellent target.
The summer will begin with Manchester United clearing the roster, once money has been raised through sales, we can expect the team to go after many targets that they have been linked to in recent times.

He might not score a ton of goals, but Hjulmand’s defensive contributions alone make him worth the price of admission. However, for the time being the team will be focusing on their Premier League clash against Wolves
