Manchester United have cooled their interest in former Real Madrid superstar
It seems like Manchester United have had to back down from former Real Madrid man Karim Benzema. As reported by The Guardian (h\t ESPN), Chelsea are now interested in signing the former Balon d’Or winner.
As reported by Ben Jacobs, the Red Devils have never been as keen on signing the 36-year-old as earlier reports have led people to believe. There are other spots on the Old Trafford squad that need to be bolstered at the moment.
While signing the Frenchman would have been a good option for the team, it seems like they are more interested in signing Bayern Munich forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
The Cameroonian striker has been unhappy with his playing time at Bayern Munich. He has fallen further down the pecking order since the arrival of Harry Kane.
The team seems to believe that signing Choupo-Moting will be great for the development of Rasmus Hojlund. There is a lot that the Danish striker can learn from the 34-year-old’s wealth of experience.
Last year when Choupo-Moting was still getting minutes, he recorded 17 goals and four assists for the German side in just 30 appearances. This kind of production could even turn the season around for Manchester United.
