Atletico Madrid leave Manchester United in the dirt in the race for talented Belgian midfielder
Manchester United have just lost out to Atletico Madrid. As reported by Metro, The Red Devils were interested in signing Belgian wonderkid, Arthur Vermeeren. The 18-year-old has caught the eye of several clubs.
The Belgium national has been developing at a rapid pace and the world has taken notice. Much to Manchester United’s disappointment it seems like Atletico took too much of an interest and are close to finalising a deal.
According to Sacha Tavolieri, the La Liga side has already reached an agreement with Vermeeren’s team Royal Antwerp FC. It seems like Manchester United are all but out of the running.
The Red Devils should not have missed out on a talent like Arthur Vermeeren. At just 18 years of age, the midfielder has already played a key role in his team’s Belgium Cup victory.
He has been regularly staring at Royal Antwerp and has two goals and six assists throughout 32 games this season. The fact that his body can handle 32 games at such a young age is amazing.
This also means that Vermeeren would have been able to handle the intensity of the Premier League. However, the Red Devil will now have to turn their attention towards other targets.
