Erik Ten Hag reveals whether Man United star’s injury helped Rasmus Hojlund stay on the field a little longer against Aston Villa
Both Man United fans and Rasmus Hojlund probably woke up with huge smiles on their face today. Yesterday, the team finally ended its goal drought and grabbed its first win since beating Chelsea at the start of December.
Aston Villa could’ve and should’ve run away with the game last night. But, Erik Ten Hag’s men showed their mettle and did the impossible. They came back to win 3-2 after being down 2-0 at halftime.
The attacking line that has been heavily criticized this season was the real star yesterday. Alejandro Garnacho grabbed a brace, Marcus Rashford got himself an assist, and last but not least Rasmus Hojlund has now scored in the Premier League.
Rasmus Hojlund’s crowning achievement almost did not happen yesterday. Fans believe that after struggling to make an impact on the game he was close to being subbed off. Erik Ten Hag has now revealed the truth behind this.
This is what the Dutchman had to say about his decision to sub Marcus Rashford. (h/t BBC)
“The strikers work so hard so we wanted to bring fresh energy there, we saw that one of them had to come off. We saw that Rashford had an issue so decided that was the change to make.”
Oh, what a lucky decision that was for Rasmus Hojlund. Marcus Rashford’s fitness issue eventually led to the Danish striker grabbing his first-ever Premier League goal.
Fans around the world are ecstatic with his performance. Manchester United chief Erik Ten Hag said that even he was delighted about Hojlund’s goal. What a night it was at Old Trafford.
