Manchester United can only ‘hope’ that David Gill’s replacement doesn’t walk in the footsteps of his other successors
David Gill’s departure marked the end of an era at Manchester United. Legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson stated that Gill’s decision to step down was a massive loss for the Red Devils.
Manchester United was on top of the world with David Gill in the office and Ferguson at the helm. But those days are long gone. The club has only gone downward since the pair departed from Old Trafford.
The ones that have been counted on to fill in their boots have been doing a terrible job. With an ownership change imminent the Old Trafford hierarchy and front office will soon see a big change.
Two of the biggest mistakes that David Gill’s successors made were their intent to reinstate Mason Greenwood and the entire European Super League debacle.
As reported by Mirror, Manchester United were planning to reinstate Mason Greenwood after all charges against him were dropped. However, the decision was taken back after some very serious internet backlash.
On 19th April 2021, The Manchester United website reported on their participation in the European Super League. Two days later the website reported that the decision was overturned. Another failure by Old Trafford’s incapable management.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition will mark the exit of The Glazers, a move which will delight the Manchester United fans.
There has been talk that Jean-Claude Blanc will succeed Richard Arnold as Manchester United’s CEO. Many believe that Blanc has the potential to step into the shoes of David Gill.
