Roy Keane names 7 players that he would want Ten Hag to retain as a part of the Manchester United squad moving forward, axe the rest he implied
Roy Keane suggests plans for Ten Hag as Manchester United prepares for the upcoming transfer window. The former Red Devils captain named 7 players that he ‘definitely’ wants Manchester United to retain ahead of next season.
Since crashing out of the Champions League, Ten Hag has now set his eyes on securing a top 4 Premier League finish in what could be seen as his attempt to somehow salvage the season for Manchester United.
After looking at the team’s horrific run, some changes are definitely in order at Old Trafford. While on the Stick to Football podcast, Keane mentioned a few names that he believes should be axed from the first team.
Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Lisandro Martinez were all named as players whom Man United should keep on the squad. Moreover, Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount have also received approval from Keane following their potential abilities.
In an interesting turn of events, Harry Maguire who even won Player of the Month in November was not present on the list. Keane believes the Red Devils’ defender should be axed.
While it is true that Ten Hag has struggled to bolster the Manchester United defensive line, leaving Maguire off the team can lead to further defensive breakdowns. This is something that the Dutchman just can’t afford at the moment.
The former club legend was particularly hard on Anthony Martial. The Frenchman’s entire stint with the Old Trafford squad has been a massive disappointment.

Roy Keane has done well in providing Ten Hag with a road map. Although, ultimately it is the Dutchman who will decide what is best for Manchester United.
Hopefully, his knowledge of the team and players can help him come to a decision. The Red Devils must make the right moves as they look to mount a comeback in the Premier League.
