Manchester United finishing fourth creates unwanted Champions League record for an English team

Manchester United have gained a massive boost ahead of their FA Cup clash with Newport County.

Manchester United claim another inglorious feat following their Champions League exit at the hands of Bayern Munich

Manchester United faced Bayern Munich on Tuesday as the team geared up to make a final push for European glory. Following their loss to Munich the Red Devils have done it again.

As shown by a post on X, Ten Hag and his team have found themselves on the wrong side of history again. Finishing dead last in their Champions League group made them the only English team to have done so on 2 different occasions.

The first time this happened was under Sir Alex Ferguson who also fell out of the Champions League after finishing last in his group. Now, with Ten Hag following in his footsteps, fans are hoping that the Dutchman can reproduce his greater feats as well.

Though it may look like the case, it wasn’t Bayern Munich that put Manchester United in the record books. When the group draws were made the Old Trafford squad was expected to sail through their group along with the Bavarians.

However, a string of disappointing performances against FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray S.K. ultimately held them back. December could not have been worse for the Red Devils.

First came their historic 3-0 loss against Bournemouth and then along came Bayern. It has been heartbreak after heartbreak for the English club as they scramble to save their campaign.

With the worst already behind them, Ten Hag will be hoping that the team can carry on with optimism as he looks to redeem himself in the Premier League.

Following two historic losses Manchester United will now be going up against Liverpool on Sunday.
