Manchester United pull out of race to sign former Chelsea defender as a sale appears to be ‘unlikely’
Manchester United have decided not to pursue former Chelsea defender Marc Guehi, states Football Insider. Tottenham Hotspur who were also in the running to sign the Crystal Palace defender have also dropped the idea.
The English defender has recently been making waves after stringing together a bunch of impressive performances with Crystal Palace. However, since a sale for him is unlikely at the moment he will probably finish his season with the Eagles.
Now, The Red Devils will be pursuing other potential transfer targets as they look to reinforce their squad with the hope of saving their season.
Apart from pursuing new talent, Ten Hag and the team have also started to sort out their internal matters. The team is now prepared to offload a bunch of their players this January as they look to create more space on the roster.
The topmost priority for Manchester would be to reinforce their midfield and attacking lines. While their defence is somewhat lacking due to ongoing injury struggles, it is mainly the midfield and their lacklustre attack that is the primary cause of concern.
Marcus Rashford who is usually counted on to score for the team has been in horrendous form. The English forward has barely made a mark recording just 2 goals in 20 appearances this season (transfermarkt).

Another issue that Ten Hag needs to nip in its bud is the team’s mentality. It has been a long time since we last saw Manchester United play with confidence. Their form from last season has completely disappeared.
With the team struggling to make an impact, it’ll be exciting to see what changes are made as The Red Devils gear up for redemption.
