Barcelona has expressed interest in Manchester United forward who last played for the team in January 2022
According to a report from 90min, FC Barcelona are interested in bringing Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood to Camp Nou. The 22-year-old has not played at Old Trafford in over a year now.
Greenwood was hit with allegations of assault and attempted rape, which led to him being outcast from the team. Shortly after that, the forward was shipped off to Getafe CF on a loan deal.
The Spanish club has also expressed their interest in making the arrangement permanent. Mason Greenwood’s career at Manchester United was effectively finished once the team concluded their internal investigation following the player’s legal issues.
Although his career at Old Trafford might be over, Greenwood’s impressive spell at Getafe has helped him garner the interest of multiple Spanish clubs.
The English national has recorded 4 goals and 3 assists in 13 appearances for his club this season (Transfermarkt). He has also been pivotal to Getafe’s La Liga campaign as he has helped the team stay afloat.
With the Red Devils unlikely to sell him to an English club the 22-year-old will find a more permanent arrangement in Spain. Going to Barcelona will surely give Greenwood a much-needed second chance after his failures at Manchester United.
