Ten Hag points the finger at superstar Bruno Fernandes for missing an excellent chance as Manchester United fall to Bayern Munich
Erik ten Hag spoke to the media following Manchester United’s exit from the Champions League. He had plenty to say and tried his best to give the fans some hope for the future.
The Dutchman expanded upon the team’s injury struggles but still didn’t hide behind it and took full responsibility for the current state of the team.
He also mentioned that the Red Devils will now be turning their attention towards the Premier League as they prepare for a trip to Anfield this Sunday. When asked about his personal feelings Ten Hag claimed that he had no regrets.
While Ten Hag claims to not have any regrets, he did mention something that contradicts this statement. Seeing one of his superstars, Bruno Fernandes miss an excellent goal-scoring opportunity against Bayern Munich probably stung Ten Hag more than he let on.
Here’s what the Dutchman had to say about it (h/t Manchester Evening News).
“Also, in that spell of the game, we had a very good chance from build-up and the Bruno Fernandes shot just over the goal. We had our moments but just didn’t take them.”
Ten Hag didn’t linger around the subject and even went on to appreciate his defensive line. Throughout Manchester United’s struggles, his defensive line is the only part of the formation that have put up a fight.
