Diogo Dalot slammed for ‘total lack of respect’ towards Manchester United teammate Rasmus Hojlund
Ian Wright was not happy with Diogo Dalot for the way he treated Manchester United teammate Rasmus Hojlund during the game by highlighting one particular incident.
Manchester United, one of the world’s most iconic football teams, are currently grappling with a myriad of issues both on and off the pitch. The recent 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth was a low point in the season, with player dynamics and managerial decisions coming under intense scrutiny
During the match, Diogo Dalot opted to shoot from an unfavourable angle rather than passing to teammate Rasmus Hojlund, leading Wright to accuse him of showing a “total lack of respect” for Hojlund. This moment encapsulates the broader problems at Manchester United, where team dynamics and decision-making have been questioned.
The team’s inconsistent performances, marked by a string of defeats, have been partly attributed to frequent changes in the back four due to injuries. The decision to bench first-choice centre-back Raphaël Varane in favour of Harry Maguire, as explained by coach Erik ten Hag, was a tactical choice rather than a reflection of Varane’s ability.
Speaking about the particular incident, here is what Wright had to say about the Dalot – Hojlund incident, as quoted by Manchester Evening News.
“For me, it was when I saw… It was Dalot, and at 1-0 and we are talking about Hojlund – he’s come on now and he wants his chance. This is good play from them. He gets in, he’s got to square this, he’s got to square it to him. I think there’s a total lack of respect for him, he doesn’t even acknowledge [him] … look at him he’s had a shot from the most ridiculous angle, he’s upset with himself.”
Manchester United’s current situation is a complex mix of on-pitch struggles and off-pitch dynamics, highlighted by incidents like Dalot’s controversial decision against Bournemouth.
As the team works to address these challenges, the focus will be on improving team cohesion, tactical decision-making, and adapting to potential changes in the squad.
