Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is optimistic that Marcus Rashford will bounce back
According to ESPN, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag remains confident that last season’s top scorer, Marcus Rashford, will regain his form despite a challenging start against Newcastle United.
In a disappointing outcome, Manchester United suffered a 1-0 defeat at St James’ Park over the weekend. Adding to the frustration, Marcus Rashford was substituted off after just 61 minutes.
Erik ten Hag said after the game:
“I know this issue is coming up and Marcus is investing a lot, we support him and he will return to his form.”
Rashford’s red card in Copenhagen marked a significant downturn for United, leading to a crushing 4-3 loss and a bottom-place standing in Group A of the Champions League. Despite these setbacks, England manager Gareth Southgate has chosen to include Rashford in the national squad.
Rashford’s underwhelming performance coincided with the day England learned of their group for next summer’s Euros, overshadowed by Anthony Gordon’s rising prominence.
Gordon, who was not selected for the latest England squad, is increasingly challenging Rashford’s position, especially as he scored his sixth league goal of the season. In contrast, Rashford is struggling to match the thirty goals he scored in all competitions last year.
Despite these challenges, Ten Hag has expressed unwavering faith in Rashford’s ability to recover and contribute significantly to the team.
Ten Hag is expected to give Rashford more playing time to regain his form. It’s unrealistic to expect a player to maintain the same level of performance as the previous season consistently. The manager, along with the fans, believes that patience is key in this situation.
