Manchester United interested in the OGC Nice defender Jean Claire Todibo
According to the Metro, Manchester United are interested in signing the Nice defender Jean Claire Todibo despite rumours that Chelsea are also running for the player.
With Harry Maguire reestablishing himself in the starting lineup and Jonny Evans being his favourite center-half partner, Raphael Varane has fallen out of favour. The seasoned player from Northern Ireland is also out after hobbling off during last week’s loss to FC Copenhagen.
One of the players United wanted to sign was Todibo and they wanted to add another central defender into the team during this summer. Despite sitting just one behind Paris Saint-Germain in the league table, Todibo, only has one French international cap, now holds his position as permanent fixture at the back of Nice defence in Ratcliffe’s team.
Manchester United’s potential purchase of Todibo would show their progressive hiring philosophy in addition to bolstering their defence. Bringing in a young defender with the 23-year-old’s style of play might provide consistency and toughness to our defence, making him a long-term fix to our problems.
Todibo has already attended a large club, but things did not go well. He had a terrible time at Barcelona, and his talent was soon forgotten. It’s hard to blame Ernesto Valverde for having more faith in Ronald Araujo.
The 23-year-old likes to attack rather than wait for his opponents to make a move and uses high-pressing strategies. When it comes to creating attacks for his team, Todibo’s passing distribution from the backline is exceptional. The Frenchman distributed things safely, but as he gained expertise, he started to take more risks.
Jonny Evans, Maguire, and Lindelof don’t exactly seem like the best defensive players to have in the lineup. It is possible for Todibo to enter and challenge Varane for the starting position. We have to wait and see if we can close this deal.

The Red Devils’ defence unit has struggled with injuries and has played inconsistently. Despite his youth, Todibo has a wealth of experience that has secured his place in the senior United team. Ratcliffe might serve as a bridge to help the Red Devils and Nice come to a mutually agreeable agreement.
