Inter Milan are considering making a shocking move for Manchester United forward Anthony Martial in the January transfer window
Seria A side Inter Milan are looking for a possible swoop for Manchester United forward Anthony Martial in January. The 27-year-old is currently playing in his last season of the current contract for the Manchester giants.
United are having a nightmare season as they have lost nine out of 17 matches in all competitions so far. The Red Devils have suffered from an injury crisis and poor individual performances, failing to find a proper balance.
The attacking department has remarkably scored one goal from Marcus Rashford for United in the Premier League this season. United have scored 16 goals from 11 games in the Premier League with the midfield and defence contributing 15.
Italian publication Calciomercato (h/t Manchester Evening News) reported that Inter are planning to would-be fee of around £36m for Martial. The 27-year-old has been unable to attract significant interest from the clubs during the summer, making this report rather shocking. ESPN reported earlier that a club from the Saudi Pro League made the only realistic offer which the Frenchman rejected.
United signed Martial from Ligue 1 club AS Monaco during the summer of 2015 as a long-term project. The transfer broke the record for the highest fee paid for a teenager during that moment in time.
The France international suffered from injuries and inconsistent performances throughout his tenure at Old Trafford. Due to numerous injury issues, Martial missed 27 matches last season, leading to his designation as a mere backup player.
Martial has made 14 appearances in all competitions this season while contributing a goal and an assist. Many fans and experts have criticized the Frenchman for his sub-par contribution and poor overall performances. The 27-year-old has disappeared during the game while providing no threat or link-up play for his team.
Martial has played 312 matches in his long career with the Red Devils while providing 89 goals and 54 assists. The Frenchman’s performance significantly falls short of the high output expectations set for any forward wearing a United jersey.

We have serious doubts over the reported price tag but United should consider selling the out-of-form forward for any price. Martial’s departure during January is mutually beneficial for both the club and the player. United cannot afford to lose their senior players for free while Martial needs a fresh start to rebuild his career.
