Former Manchester United player Dimitar Berbatov criticizes Antony for not performing well
According to the Mirror, former Manchester United player Dimitar Berbatov criticized our Brazilian winger Antony asking him to put more effort into the games and help the club score goals.
It has been difficult for Antony to explain why the Red Devils spent £82 million to sign him from Ajax last summer. And if the attacker wants to stay on Erik ten Hag’s team, Berbatov thinks he needs to improve.
The Brazilian has had an awful season, making it 11 appearances across all competitions without a goal. In United’s most recent game, a narrow victory against Fulham, he was substituted off soon after the hour mark, to the cheers of the home crowd.
Berbatov said:
“However, right now, it’s not working well for Antony, so my piece of advice would be to keep it simple, don’t overcomplicate stuff. The moment you start thinking you’re Ronaldinho or Zinedine Zidane while you’re struggling in games, you’re going to suffer even more.”
Additionally, Berbatov thinks Antony should give up the gimmicks that have grown to be a significant component of his strategy. Rather, the former United player advised him to take advantage of his speed to get past opponents.
After it became known that he was the subject of a police investigation about claims that he had abused his ex-girlfriend, Antony missed a portion of September.
In recent weeks, Ten Hag has made an effort to defend his signing from Ajax by calling him a “fighter.” But Berbatov is certain that if the forward returns to his fundamentals, he can improve.
