Manchester United are interested in Lyon midfielder Rayan Cherki
Despite his young age of just 20, Cherki has already put in 112 games for Lyon in which he managed to score 14 goals and create 17 assists. Moreover, the term of his domestic contract ends at the end of the coming season which makes him an enticing option.
Although Cherki has a certain contract situation, it is difficult to define his cost. However, he is worth signing, because of his career ceiling. If Cherki were to sign with Manchester United or Newcastle, he would be making his Premier League debut as he has spent his whole career with Lyon.
This season, they are both participating in the Champions League, a competition that Cherki participated in during the 2019–20 campaign. Additionally, in the 2021–22 Europa League, he acquired experience.
Is he a unique player? He is not a unique player; he is just another player. However, mental and athletic attributes are just as important as technical ones. He needs to work on the other skills, but he has great technical ability. However, looking at the way Newcastle are playing every game week, it might make United’s task of getting him difficult.
Despite the possibility that he may not play for a winning club, he is headed for another good season after playing in every game that has come up for him so far this year. Cherki has thus far in 2023–24 been utilised as a left winger, no. 10, or right winger under the direction of Fabio Grosso; this adaptability could help him make an impression wherever he goes next and hopefully United.
