Former Premier League forward Daniel Sturridge tells Manchester United star Rasmus Hojlund to build relationships with his teammate.

Former Premier League star Daniel Sturridge believes Manchester United star Rasmus Hojlund need to build a bond with Bruno Fernandes. The 20-year-old has yet to score a goal in the Premier League since joining the Red Devils in the summer.

Hojlund has given promising performances for United but the Dane has found it hard to get decent goal-scoring chances. Whereas, the United captain Fernandes is the primary source of creativity but he has failed to link with the 20-year-old.

The Red Devils have lost eight out of 16 games in all competitions this season and struggled to score. The United attackers have not scored a single goal in the Premier League competition which is unacceptable at this level.

Sturridge told Sky Sports (h/t Manchester Evening News) that Hojlund would benefit from building strong chemistry with Fernandes. He said:

“I do think that he (Hojlund) has got great potential. I think he does make good runs, but I just think that he’s not getting as many opportunities as he would like. If he (Hojlund) had a relationship with Bruno (Fernandes) and they are going to build that relationship over time, maybe he plays that ball in behind. He’s made that run off the defender, he’s looked over his left and he is on the right shoulder, and clearly the ball across the box isn’t great.”

United signed Hojlund from Seria A side Atalanta for £72m during the summer transfer window. United manager Erik ten Hag wanted a striker after United had only Marcus Rashford as the goalscoring outlet last season.

The 20-year-old has scored only three goals from 13 appearances in all competitions. Hojlund has only scored in the Champions League fixtures against Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.

The Denmark international found himself isolated as his teammates failed to deliver quality balls in threatening positions.

Hojlund has demonstrated his innate poaching ability and intelligent off-the-ball movements that his teammates can exploit. However, Fernandes has struggled with form this season despite being a consistent contributor since joining United.

We think communication and team chemistry is something that is severely lacking across the pitch at United. The United manager and the players must rectify the situation and stop playing like a bunch of individuals. Hojlund is still very young but he has shown glimpses of his immense talent that just needs assistance.
