Manchester United target Adrien Rabiot is not expected to leave Juventus in January 2024
Juventus ace Adrien Rabiot is no stranger to Manchester United fans given how long we have been linked with him. With the January transfer window fast approaching
The French ace made a name for himself at Paris Saint-Germain before ending up at Juventus on a Bosman in 2019. He recently penned a one-year extension that expires in the summer of 2024.
The January transfer window represents Juventus’s best shot at securing a transfer fee. However, he appears likely to see out the 2023-24 campaign at the Allianz Stadium
In his exclusive column for Caught Offside, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the 28-year-old will not be leaving Juventus in January. This pours cold water on United’s hopes of securing the Frenchman mid-season.
“Despite some speculation and his contract situation, my understanding is very clear that Adrien Rabiot is not leaving Juventus in January – it’s impossible.”
This is poor news for United who could have done with reinforcements in January. While the Red Devils got back to winning ways against Fulham, there is still much work to be done before we can challenge for trophies.
Rabiot’s versatility allows him to operate in various midfield roles, including as a central midfielder, defensive midfielder, or even in a more advanced playmaking position. This flexibility can be valuable to United’s tactical setup.
However, while he could prove to be a solid signing, there is much baggage that could prove to be a hindrance. Rabiot has faced disciplinary issues and has been involved in disputes and disciplinary issues at former clubs and also the national team.
Given the hard hand that Erik ten Hag is employing at Old Trafford, it is debatable if the Frenchman will fit into the Dutchman’s ideals. After all, Jadon Sancho still has not apologised and The Hag has received little encouragement in the ability to settle the conflict amicably. Surely, he will not want another loose cannon in the squad.
