Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag wants his “dream signing” Napoli forward Victor Osimhen in the January transfer window.
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is planning to raid Napoli to acquire Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen during the January window. The 24-year-old is a “dream signing” for the Dutchman as he wants to solve the attack problem at the club.
The Red Devils are struggling in many positions as their season has gone from bad to worse in the last week. United lost the Premier League Manchester derby in a 0-3 humiliating loss at Old Trafford as Manchester City dominated them. The Red Devils lacked both possession and shots in comparison to their local rivals.
Additionally, Ten Hag’s men crashed out of the Carabao Cup after another 0-3 home loss to Newcastle United. United dominated the possession unlike their game against City on Sunday but failed to build any concrete threat.
Ten Hag’s men barely managed to beat Fulham at Craven Cottage after captain Bruno Fernandes scored a late winner. United have only scored 21 goals from 16 matches in all competitions this season while conceding 26 goals in return. The Red Devils have lost eight out of these 16 games as they have visibly been non-threatening in the attack.
The forward line at United are yet to register a single goal in the Premier League after playing 11 matches so far this season.
United signed Rasmus Hojlund during the summer transfer window for £72m from Serie A side Atalanta. The 20-year-old has given fantastic performances but he has failed to score outside of Champions League fixtures.
Fichajes reported that Ten Hag want to secure the signing of Osimhen during the January transfer window to help United. As his reputation continues to grow, many top European clubs have shown interest in the 24-year-old.
Osimhen is a formidable attacker standing at six feet one inches tall and known for his athleticism and strength. The Nigeria international is a proven goal-scoring machine with fantastic off-the-ball movement and link-up play.
The 24-year-old has incredible pace to beat defenders and his all-round abilities make him very unpredictable up front. The Nigerian forward has made 111 appearances for Napoli while contributing 65 goals and providing 15 assists so far.

If the club’s board grants Ten Hag’s wish, Osimhen will become a marquee signing for the Red Devils. The Napoli forward will cost a massive amount in January due to his sheer importance to the Italian side. United need attackers capable of providing a continuous supply of goals and Osimhen is a readymade solution to that problem.
