Manchester United are eyeing a move for Monaco striker Wissam Ben-Yedder
Monaco striker Wissam Ben-Yedder is no stranger to interest from Old Trafford and it would appear that Manchester United are ready to rekindle their interest in the 33-year-old.
This news comes at the heels of another disappointing outing vs Newcastle United that saw the Red Devils crash out of the Carabao Cup earlier this week. A major aspect that we have come to see in the club’s style in recent times has been the inability to score goals.
Rasmus Hojlund looks promising but is still a work in progress. Marcus Rashford’s form states he is unlikely to hit a barn door with a banjo while the less said about Anthony Martial the better. It thus comes as no surprise that the Red Devils are seeking alternatives in the upcoming transfer windows.
According to an exclusive report by TeamTalk, the Red Devils have formed a four man shortlist in their pursuit of a striker. Apart from Ben-Yedder, United are also eyeing Flamengo star Gabriel Barbosa, Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Porto ace Mehdi Taremi.
Curiously, Ben-Yedder and Taremi both are in their thirties and will not be long-term options for Manchester United. It could suggest that the cub is looking for a short-term fix while Hojlund finds his feet.
An experienced head could make better use of the goalscoring opportunities and make a telling impact upfront for Erik ten Hag. Whether a January transfer is on the cards is anyone’s guess.
Better to look elsewhere!
Ben-Yedder is a proven goalscorer but United are better off seeking other options. The French international was privy to assault charges being levied against him and being linked to him is a bad look for the club.
Given the blowback the club received for their treatment of the Mason Greenwood issue and the allegations against Antony, it is fair to claim that throwing Ben-Yedder into the mix could prove to be a major blow to our reputation. Surely, we can find better alternatives.

Bringing in a reliable goal scorer midseason could help us salvage what has so far been a difficult situation. A rebuild is yet to be completed at Old Trafford and given how the campaign is slipping away, a short-term fix could give the manager and the decision makers sufficient breathing space till next summer.
