Manchester United would need to shell out £15 million to sack their current manager Erik ten Hag. The United boss is facing a lot of pressure right now due to abysmal performance by the team this season.

The Red Devils have lost eight games out of 15 matches in all competitions this season. United have conceded 26 goals so far while their goal difference in the Premier League is currently in the negative.

Ten Hag took over United during the summer of 2022 after a successful tenure with Dutch giants Ajax. The Dutchman was lauded for transforming Ajax into a serious contender in Europe with an attractive style of play.

Ten Hag took Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals during the 2018-19 season. He was the first manager since Louis van Gaal in the 1996-97 season to achieve that feat.

The Dutchman successfully took United back to the Champions League by achieving the qualification in his first season. Furthermore, Ten Hag managed to end the six-year trophy drought for the Red Devils by winning the Carabao Cup.

However, the Red Devils have gone backwards this season with a series of poor individual performances and an injury crisis. Many fans and football experts have criticized Ten Hag for the lack of cohesiveness and style of play within the team.

United have left spaces for opponents to exploit whenever they have attempted to deploy an attacking style of play. On the other hand, they have looked non-threatening whenever they used a cautious tactical approach like against Manchester City.

The Red Devils lost the Manchester derby 3-0 at Old Trafford as their local rivals dominated the game. The United boss received a chorus of boos from his home supporters during and after the game.

Ten Hag received unsavory chants from Newcastle United fans during United’s 0-3 loss in the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford. Newcastle fans targeted the United boss with “you’re getting sacked in the morning” and many other mocking renditions of songs throughout the game.

Mirror reported that United would need to pay £15 million to sack Ten Hag. However, the Dutchman’s job is currently not at risk as the United hierarchy has patience and trust in him.

Nevertheless, things can change quickly at a big club like United and getting results is of utmost importance. Currently, Ten Hag is failing to install his playing philosophy within the team and having long consistent results looks unattainable.
