Jadon Sancho continues to train alone at Manchester United
Manchester United have had several controversial moments on and off the field this season and one involves their star winger Jadon Sancho.
The English international has not played for the Red Devils since his outburst against Erik ten Hag after being dropped for the crunch clash against Arsenal earlier this season.
Sancho, who moved to the club from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021 has been a shadow of the prolific goalscorer that saw in the Bundesliga. While there have been moments of magic, they have been few and fleeting.
Sancho has since refused to apologise to Ten Hag and both appear to be at an impasse as we near the January transfer window. A winter exit has also been mooted with several sides keen on the player.
At 23, the English winger should be playing week in, week out but now finds himself on the fringes. According to Sky Sports, there is no change in his status as the trench warfare continues.
The Hag is ready to reconsider the player’s role if he apologises in public. However, Sancho has not given an indication that he is ready to bow down to the manager’s demands. While a reconciliation is not impossible, there has been no movement in that regard of late.
A fragile ego?
Managers and players have huge egos and clashes are sometimes more common than we think. Ten Hag has the right to call for an apology but his claiming the high ground is unconvincing given that it was the Dutchman who fired the opening salvo.
The United boss should have kept the finer points of Sancho’s issues to himself than make it public knowledge. This invasion of privacy gives the player the right to defend himself.
Freezing him out rather than coming to an amicable solution is a blot on Ten Hag’s managerial skills. The way he fell out with Cristiano Ronaldo, David de Gea and now Sancho certainly exposes chinks in his man-management skills.

It is in Manchester United’s best interests to end this stand-off as quickly as possible. The club continues to struggle on the field and results are not picking up. More so, players who offer width are currently dealing with several on and off-the-field issues.
Amad Diallo is injured while the less we say about Antony the better. With Marcus Rashford also shooting blanks, Sancho being available would have given Ten Hag options.
The Dutchman is better off burying the hatchet and making use of all the resources at his disposal to help the club tide over this mess. Ego is a dangerous thing and it remains to be seen if it will be the end of Ten Hag at Old Trafford.
