Lisandro Martinez didn’t stop from cheering for Manchester United against FC Copenhagen

Manchester United finally got the much-needed victory in the Champions League after defeating FC Copenhagen with a narrow scoreline of 1-0. However, it was a poetic moment as Harry Maguire and Andre Onana who has been slandered for quite some time now for their errors were the reason why United got the victory. They also had moral support from Lisandro Martinez.

Regretfully, Lisandro Martinez our much-trusted center-back who started many games for the team the previous season—was unable to play because of an injury. The player continued to watch the entire game and support the team exactly like we did, despite this.

The 25-year-old former Ajax defender used painkillers in order to compete in the matches against Brighton and Bayern Munich. This surely indicates that how much he’s already sacrificing to help us win games.

This is what Martinez posted on his Instagram story:

Martinez played for the team in 45 games across all competitions last season, recording one goal. He also started the Carabao Cup final in February at Wembley Stadium, which Manchester United defeated Newcastle 2-0.

Ten Hag has depended on the Argentine quite a bit, so it looks like the club will have a challenging scenario. Conversely, it is an issue that needs to be resolved; let’s hope that, for the sake of Martinez and our team, it goes away permanently.

We can now only hope that Martinez is back in the squad as soon as possible. Now that we have gained momentum both in the league and in the Champions League it just might help everyone give more than 100%.

Last season, Martinez was continuously among the first names on the team sheet, demonstrating his selection with a run of strong performances. With Lisandro Martinez out of the picture, the defence will surely be exposed. Right now, all we can do is wait for him to return. Let’s observe the outcome.
