Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has high hopes from Scottish international Scott McTominay as the season progresses
According to the famous Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano’s tweet on X, Erik ten Hag is highly impressed by the way Scott McTominay has been performing and helping the squad whenever needed.
McTominay’s handball offence resulted in a penalty as he flailed his arm to the side. Diogo Dalot’s goal in the second half of the game gave the Red Devils the victory.
Before the October international break, the 26-year-old made a valiant appearance in the match against Brentford. In the 87th minute, the United manager brought McTominay into the game in place of Sofyan Amrabat.
In order to complete the comeback and prevent United from suffering their third straight home defeat, the Scotsman scored two goals in extra time. McTominay’s comeback should postpone his departure as he keeps proving his value in United’s dire circumstances. The 26-year-old’s mentality is similar to that of many former United greats who advanced via the team’s academy.
For Ten Hag’s team, McTominay’s tenacity, resolve, desire, and poise under pressure are essential. The 26-year-old has never complained, not even when there were whispers circulating about his future and he was benched during the team’s difficult times.
The Red Devils have had an unexpectedly poor season, therefore they need players who are making significant contributions. United have dropped both of their Champions League Group A matches and are presently ranked eighth in the Premier League standings.
He has demonstrated his capability to lead the attack of his country and team. With the talented pool available at United, it might be difficult for him to retain his Scotland form all through the season.
