Chris Sutton unsure about how Andre Onana fits into the Manchester United squad
According to BBC, Chris Sutton still believes that the new signing Andre Onana is not fit to be in the current Manchester United squad. This unforgiving assessment is undoubtedly not developed after watching a single game, but rather the player’s constant gaffes over the last few weeks.
Due to his better ball-playing abilities, Erik ten Hag was reunited with his old Ajax goalie, Andre Onana, after United spent £47 million to replace David de Gea. Ten Hag’s confidence in selling the Spaniard has not yet been validated by Onana, who has made some notable mistakes, most notably during Champions League losses to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.
Although Onana has maintained three clean sheets in his 11 games thus far, the Old Trafford supporters will be concerned about the fact that he has given up an enormous eighteen goals in the other seven games. As the last line of defence, he does not really inspire confidence.
On July 1, David de Gea departed Manchester United as a free agent following the collapse of contract negotiations. Despite being the seventh-highest appearance maker in Red Devils history, he was let go with nary a thought. Given that Andre Onana was having difficulty filling in for him, Manchester United might have committed a grave mistake by letting him go so soon.
Last season, the 27-year-old was essential in getting Inter to the Champions League finals. He, however, seems a poor fit at Old Trafford and a shadow of the player we saw impress for the Nerazzurri. If anything, one can understand Sutton’s unflattering scepticism regarding the Cameroonian.,
“I know I keep saying it, but I am not convinced by Manchester United or by their goalkeeper Andre Onana.”
United face Sheffield United next and we cannot afford to drop points against a side who are expected to be relegated this season. While Sutton believes the Blades will prove to be a resolute opponent, he has backed the Red Devils to come out 2-0 on top.

We believe that in order for the Red Devils to advance to the Champions League knockout stages, Onana’s performances are essential. A solid showing on the weekend will certainly boost confidence ahead of the do-or-die clash against FC Copenhagen midweek.
