Sir Jim Ratcliffe highlights the deficiencies in the transfer policy at Manchester United, citing Casemiro as a prominent example

Sir Jim Ratcliffe shared his displeasure towards the transfer policy at Manchester United while using Casemiro as an example. The potential minority owner raised concerns about the transfer strategies during his visit.

Ratcliffe is the Chairman and chief executive officer of INEOS Chemicals. And, additionally, the second richest man in England.

United fans are eagerly waiting for the prospect of Ratcliffe taking control at the club. However, questioning Casemiro’s transfer might raise some eyebrows among the faithful who hold the Brazilian in high regard.

The Guardian reported that Ratcliffe believes United have a good commercial operation but they need improvement in squad recruitment. The English businessman visited the club in March and participated in a presentation designed for him.

The Red Devils’ hierarchy including CEO Richard Arnold and football director John Murtough were in attendance during the presentation. Ratcliffe raised questions about the players that United signed in the past few transfer windows.

United signed Casemiro for £70m from Real Madrid with £10m add-ons, during the 2022 summer transfer window.

The Brazilian international had a brilliant start, playing a pivotal role in the Carabao Cup win over Newcastle United.

The 31-year-old scored the opening goal in the final and helped the Red Devils end their six-year trophy drought. However, Ratcliffe’s questioning is understandable because Casemiro is in a massive £350,000 a week contract while he’s gradually declining. Casemiro received a lot of criticism this season for his overall performances for the Red Devils.

Ratcliffe has bid for a 25% share in the club for about £1.3bn while the United board is yet to vote on it. United fans expressed their unhappiness when the club rejected Sheikh Jassim’s 100% offer. The Red Devils fans have a very hostile relationship with the current club owners, the Glazers. They will welcome Ratcliffe’s leadership with open arms if it means the exodus of the American family.
