Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho told to leave the club if he fails to apologise to Erik ten Hag
According to The Guardian, Jadon Sancho has been asked by his senior Manchester United teammates to apologise to Erik ten Hag or to leave the club in the upcoming 2024 January transfer window.
Sancho has also spoken with officials at United and is aware that the situation can only be rectified if he shows regret about his actions to Ten Hag. As things stand, the player has been made to practise with the under-18 team after essentially labelling the Red Devils’ boss a liar.
Although it has been some time since the incident, Ten Hag would be open to reintegrating the 23-year-old into the first-team squad should he receive an apology. Prior to being benched for the Arsenal match, United was working with Sancho on his behaviour.
United might acknowledge that the only course of action, short of apologising, is to sell or loan the player, who cost £73 million when he signed with Borussia Dortmund in July 2021. It would represent a colossal waste of time and resources on who was once a world-beater in the making.
At Old Trafford, Sancho has found it difficult to have a constant influence at Old Trafford. United, currently ranked tenth in the Premier League and bottom of their Champions League group, will play Sheffield United again on Saturday night.
Sancho appears reluctant to apologise, even if doing so would easily alter the entire situation. Whether that is a matter of him being stubborn or just sticking to his guns and believing he is in the right is debatable.
This season, Marcus Rashford’s play has suffered, and Antony was away for a long time due to personal matters. United’s recent performance has been negatively impacted by these setbacks.
With Amad Diallo injured and Mason Greenwood sent out on loan, the wide options on Ten Hag’s plate are limited. Sancho’s actions certainly have not endeared him to the manager of the club’s faithful.

If the club were indeed working on Sancho’s troubles in the background, it appears to be poor form from Ten Hag to make the issue public before the player was ready to do so. Regardless of which side you take in the debate, it was the Dutchman who fired the first shots.
Sancho might just be standing up for himself. By handing him an ultimatum, the manager and club have shown poor management and an inability to come to an understanding with a player who is ready to hold his ground. If Sancho does go on to succeed elsewhere, there should be serious questions asked about the management.
