Tottenham Hotspur make their move to land Manchester United target Kerem Akturkoglu

Kerem Akturkoglu is not a name Manchester United fans will forget in a hurry given his stunning performance against us at Old Trafford last month. The Galatasaray star made a telling difference as the Turkish giants staged a second-half comeback to stun the Red Devils 3-2.

The 24-year-old scored his side’s second goal on the night and was a constant third in the Red Devils backline. To say he has already wowed the Old Trafford faithful with his talents would be an understatement.

The Turkish international is primarily a left-winger and is capable of doing a job anywhere along the frontline. This versatility will be a boon for Ten Hag who is yet to properly implement the free-flowing attacking football that we saw at Ajax Amsterdam on a consistent basis.

Given the troubles faced by Jadon Sancho and Antony, not to mention the cloud that hovers around Mason Greenwood, Manchester United could do with a winger or two in 2024. Akturkoglu fits the bill and has already shown the ability to perform in a high-pressure environment.

The Red Devils lack players who step up and take their game up a notch when needed. The mentality in the current roster is certainly suspect. We would not begrudge the management if they decide to go all-in for Akturkoglu.

But it won’t be an easy feat as Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also in the fray. In fact, Aksam reports that the North Londoners have already reached out to Galatasaray and have also requested a meeting with the player.

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are targeting Kerem Akturkoglu

Ange Postecoglou has brought the fun back to Tottenham Hotspur and the club is currently at the top of the Premier League standings. Spurs continue to show ambition and appear to have a coherent plan, not something we can claim to have at this moment.

But with Sir Jim Ratcliffe likely to complete his takeover of the Old Trafford outfit, a new damn is hopefully around the corner. Whether this will translate into smart purchases in the upcoming transfer windows remains to be seen.

More Manchester United News

Should Akturkoglu continue his hot streak, he will only garner more interest from other top clubs across Europe. Several eyes in Manchester will be on the 24-year-old when the Red Devils travel to Galatasaray on November 29th.
