Manchester United created a five-man shortlist in order to replace the banished forward Jadon Sancho.
Manchester United have prepared a five-man shortlist to replace their outcast Jadon Sancho. The 23-year-old’s future remains uncertain as the relationship between him and the manager Erik ten Hag broke down this season.
The Red Devils have faced a shortage of options in their attack department with limited natural options for the wide-forward positions. The Red Devils currently have out-of-form Marcus Rashford and Antony as their options to play at the wing.
Antony has failed to impress the fans and football experts since signing for the club last season. Furthermore, Alejandro Garnacho and Facundo Pellistri, while showing promise, do not meet the readiness criteria for regular roles.
The Muppetiers (h/t Express) reported that Yeremy Pino, Nico Williams, and Antonio Nusa are part of the shortlist. Furthermore, United are keeping an eye on Serge Gnabry and Martin Terrier as a potential replacement for Sancho as well.
United signed Sancho from German side Borussia Dortmund for £73m during the summer of 2021. The 23-year-old joined the English giants with high expectations after being incredibly productive and consistent for Dortmund.
The England international made 137 appearances for the German side while contributing 50 goals and 64 assists for them. The Englishman has failed to live up to the potential that he showed in Bundesliga, at Old Trafford.
Sancho has appeared in 82 matches for the Red Devils and only contributed 12 goals and six assists. The English forward faced criticism and scrutiny from the Red Devil fans and football pundits close to the club.
Ten Hag had a fallout with Sancho after the manager criticized the 23-year-old’s training performances. The England international made immediate retaliatory comments through a social post and blamed the manager for using him as a scapegoat.
United has banned Sancho from using any first-team facility until he apologizes to the manager. However, the 23-year-old refuses to apologize which has led to an “impasse” between the two parties.

The 23-year-old’s mental and physical struggle contributed to his dismal performances after joining United. Ten Hag revealed the forward’s mental struggle last season when the Dutchman gave his player a break to recuperate. Daily Mail reported that the United boss did not receive permission to share the intimate information publicly.
Sancho‘s belief that he was unjustly treated leads to the inevitable conclusion that his days at the club are numbered. The English giants cannot afford distraction as their season has suffered with an injury crisis and inconsistent performances. We think Ten Hag needs recruitment to strengthen the wide positions regardless of Sancho’s situation. As things stand, Sancho’s departure and recruitment to the attack are the most mutually beneficial plan of action for United.
