Crystal Palace defender Joachim Anderson belittled the atmosphere of Manchester United compared to the atmosphere at the rivals Manchester City.

Crystal Palace defender Joachim Anderson rubbed more salt into the wounds of Manchester United after scoring the winner. The Danish defender ridiculed the atmosphere of Old Trafford compared to the one at the home stadium of Manchester City.

The Red Devils lost to Palace 0-1 in the Premier League game at Old Trafford with Anderson’s 25th-minute goal. The Eagles managed to keep the Old Trafford frustrated as United’s team managed to muster only four shots on target.

United have suffered with inconsistent form so far this season with six losses in 11 games. The injury crisis has loomed large since the beginning, leaving the Red Devils unbalanced in both defensive and offensive play.

Anderson talked to Bold.BK (h/t Manchester Evening News) about the atmosphere at Old Trafford compared to one at Etihad Stadium. He said:

“It’s a cool stadium with a cool atmosphere. I don’t know if it’s the best place. However, I would say that it is more difficult against Manchester City, to be honest.”

United boss Erik ten Hag is also facing a shortage of options in attack after a public fallout with Jadon Sancho. Experienced forwards like Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have been very poor with their performances during this season. Rashford was the highest goalscorer last season but only contributed one goal and three assists in 10 games so far.

Ten Hag is still trying to balance the starting team in the midst of an injury crisis and off-field controversies. The Dutchman realizes that expectations at a big club like United are always high and results are the priority. However, he deserves the time and patience to set things right and that cannot happen in a day.

Anderson’s criticism of Old Trafford’s atmosphere does not portray the complete picture of the fanbase and the historic stadium. The relationship between the stadium and the players representing the club is symbiotic. If one falters, it often impacts the other, but we can always take this criticism constructively.

We believe this is the time to back the manager and the players to change the club’s fortune this season. Maybe Anderson will see the true might of Old Trafford’s atmosphere next season if Ten Hag turns things around.
