Manchester United star Casemiro wants to form a partnership with Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

Manchester United defensive midfielder Casemiro praised Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes and affirmed his desire to play with the 25-year-old. The duo are together to fulfil their October international break duties for the Brazil national team.

Newcastle signed Guimaraes in the 2022 January transfer window from Ligue 1 club Lyon and the player made an instant impact. The Brazilian international helped the club qualify for Champions League football in a short period of time.

The 25-year-old has continued his sensational form for the Magpies this season. Guimaraes was instrumental in Newcastle’s memorable and emphatic 4-1 win against Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Casemiro spoke to OGOL (h/t The Shields Gazette) about his international teammate and their potential partnership. He said:

“Bruno [Guimaraes] is a player who has been doing an exceptional job at Newcastle. With every workout and every game, I’m more comfortable with him. It’s not up to me to determine who I’m going to play with. But of course, when you play longer with a player, you have a greater adaptation.”

Casemiro has faced a lot of criticism from football fans and pundits for his poor performances so far this season. The defensive midfielder has been prolific in front of goal but suffered from poor overall display in midfield.

The 31-year-old has played every one of the 11 matches for the Red Devils in all competitions this season. Casemiro has contributed four goals and one assist which shows that he has been productive despite his struggles.

The Brazilian international has won a lot of honours during his time at La Liga side Real Madrid. Casemiro won La Liga three times, UEFA Super Cup, Supercopa de Espana, and FIFA Club World Cup three times each. The Brazilian also won Copa del Rey and enjoyed the UEFA Champions League victories five times.

Casemiro joined the Red Devils with the desire to continue his trophy successes with the new club. The 31-year-old’s form fell drastically during the second half of the last season and has continued to this season.

The Brazilian international would hope that United’s new signing can compensate for his weaknesses in midfield as he still has plenty to offer. Casemiro is currently looking to enjoy building a formidable midfield partnership with Guimaraes for Brazil during the October international break.
