Anthony Martial of Manchester United on the radar of Barcelona
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, since Anthony Martial is in the last season of his contract at Manchester United it is becoming more and more evident for him to leave. This is making him a Barcelona prospect who can help the Spanish side in securing the transfer project.
It was a brilliant move when Manchester United paid AS Monaco €80 million to capture the French striker in 2015. Over time, we have seen how Martial’s spot in the starting XI squad got snatched away.
Xavi Hernandez, the Barcelona manager recently signed two players- Joao Cancelo from Manchester City and Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid. The twist here is that both have gone to serve Xavi for a season-long loan. However, that has certainly turned out to be brilliant.
He respects his technical skill, teamwork, and flair, all of which might be advantageous in La Liga. Martial, on the other hand, has experience playing in the Spanish top division after a difficult stint on loan at Sevilla two seasons ago.
Martial is still, no doubt, a talented player who has had his good spells in a Red shirt. But Rasmus Hojlund‘s arrival presently puts his position as the Reds’ first-choice striker in jeopardy, but the Frenchman did score a crucial goal against Crystal Palace this week to strengthen his confidence.
The 27-year-old is notably in the final year of his contract. It remains to be seen if both the player and the club will be keen to agree to a new deal, this time, perhaps on modest wages that reflect his gradually decreasing role in Erik ten Hag’s plans.
If not, it could be a massive financial loss for the Red Devils because we could have raked in a decent fee for a full France international who still has several years of football ahead of him.

Barcelona’s pull is strong. So it is hard to imagine Martial wanting to stay at Old Trafford in a secondary role if Barca come calling. Perhaps this season is his last one in Manchester, and that may be a good thing for everyone involved.
