Former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea contemplating retirement
The Guardian is reporting that former Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is contemplating retirement if he does not receive an offer to be a No 1 at any major club.
After failing to agree on terms for a new contract offered to him this summer, the 32-year-old departed from United.
Several clubs, including those from Saudi Arabia, approached De Gea, but the legendary goalkeeper turned down all offers. The Spaniard wishes to compete for a top club and money is not his primary motivator.

United signed De Gea under the leadership of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson succeeding another legend, Edwin van der Sar. He left the Red Devils after winning the Premier League, FA Cup, Europa League and two League Cups.
De Gea won the Premier League Golden Glove twice and earned selections for the PFA Team of the Year five times.
The Spaniard was a massive fan favorite as they voted him as United’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year for 3 consecutive seasons with De Gea winning the award 4 times.
According to The Guardian, De Gea felt disappointed about the way he had to depart from United, a club that held a special place in his heart. United manager Erik ten Hag had already decided that André Onana will be his No 1 goalkeeper going forward.
The decision led to United offering De Gea a contract with a significant wage cut with no room for negotiation.
De Gea will go down in the history book as one of the greatest United goalkeepers. He broke former United goalkeeper, Peter Schmeichel’s record of the most clean sheets in the club’s history.

We still need to see if a top club is willing to take a chance on the 32-year-old. De Gea has faced a gradual decline in performance over the last couple of seasons. Rest assured, if De Gea decides to hang up his boots, it will be a very emotional day for every United fan.
