Daily Mail (h/t Metro) reports that Manchester United are looking to sign Leeds United wonderkid Finley Gorman. Manchester United’s local rival Manchester City are also keeping tabs on the 14-year-old.

The young midfielder has impressed many while playing for Leeds Under 16 as a number of clubs are interested in his service.

Gorman made his debut for Leeds United U18 against Stoke City U18 in the English U18 PL in August 2023. The 14-year-old managed to grab two goals and provide an assist in what was an incredible outing

The report in Metro further suggested that Gorman has bagged a combined total of 20 goals and assists in just nine games so far this season.

Rising Ballers, a dedicated social media account on platform X, focuses on spotting young talent. They posted a video compilation of Gorman that went viral, racking up 5.8 million views.

The Red Devils globally hold a well-reputed status for developing world-class talents. Legendary football players like David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Darren Fletcher, and Paul Pogba came through the United academy.

Currently, Marcus Rashford is entertaining the Old Trafford crowd with the skills that he honed at United Academy itself. Gorman looks like a young teenager who fits the profile to develop his talent and build his path towards top-level football if the Red Devils acquire his services.

City have a good academy and the ability to forge a talent but breaking into their team for opportunity is hard. City have shown a proclivity towards buying world-class players over developing them. Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia and Pedro Porro are all examples of that.

Gorman’s talent assures him more opportunities at Old Trafford to break into the first team, a long-standing tradition at the club. He will, of course, have to rise through the academy and prove his worth before getting anywhere near Erik ten Hag’s team in the coming years (if he signs).

But he can rest assured that the Red Devils are a club famed for giving talented youngsters a chance if they deserve it. A move to a club like Man United so early in a player’s career can be a bit daunting at times, but it is a challenge the superstars of tomorrow should be willing to take if they want to make rapid progress and play for some of the best youth coaches alongside world-class players.
