West Ham United are set to re-open talks to sign Harry Maguire before the transfer window deadline
According to Sun (h/t Daily Mail), West Ham re-open talks with Manchester United to sign centre-back Harry Maguire in the final days of this transfer window.
The Hammers had a £30m deal agreed with United to sign the England international. But, that move fizzled out as the Red Devils wanted to sign a replacement before selling him. The player himself took a lot of time in deciding his future.
It is revealed that Maguire wants United to pay him off for this transfer to take place. His wage at the London Stadium would be £120,000 per week, significantly lower than what he is earning at Old Trafford.

The development of that is the relaying of a helping hand by West Ham. They are ready to pay a little more to make sure United do what is required to make this deal happen.
An interesting few days beckon as a result. This transfer saga could drag on until the deadline day, which is only four days away now.
If United lose Maguire before the end of this window, would they use the finances to sign another defender or beef up the midfield? The latter has looked porous with Casemiro having to do a lot of defensive work on his own.

Making an offer to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is still a possibility. Fabrizio Romano has updated that while a bid is yet to be made, the expectation is that it will happen in the coming days.
A lot can happen in the next four days. United need two players ideally. But, at least one would do for now if a compromise needs to be reached.
