Mason Mount Manchester United injury lay-off longer than expected
Manchester United star Mason Mount is expected to be out for longer than expected after picking up a hamstring injury, according to The Telegraph (h/t Metro).
Initially, the England international was said to have picked up a slight knock, ruling him out of the Nottingham Forest and Arsenal fixtures. We are set to face the Tricky Trees on 26 August, followed by the Gunners on 3 September.
The Red Devils anticipated the midfielder’s return to action after the international break. However, the 24-year-old could now be out for four to six weeks.
It remains to be seen what the exact timeline of Mount’s absence will be. However, in the worst-case scenario, the midfielder could be out of action until early October.
United signed the English national from Premier League rivals Chelsea in the ongoing transfer window for £55 million. The Blues academy graduate was one of their best players over the years.
However, over the last few months, Mount’s form has seen a massive dip. Unfortunately, he seems to have carried that into the Red Devils.
The midfielder failed to make an impact in the opening two games of the season against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur. The English national evidently needs more time to gel into the new system and environment.
Erik ten Hag has Christian Eriksen in his ranks. The Danish national played admirably alongside Casemiro in the double-pivot position. It would make sense to start the 31-year-old as long as Mount is unavailable. Scott McTominay is also at the Dutch manager’s disposal.

The former Chelsea star has not had the best of starts to life at United. Now, the injury will arguably hinder the English national’s continuity in the team. Hopefully, the midfielder will be able to clear his head and come back stronger.
