Manchester United striker Anthony Martial is attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League
According to the Mirror, several Saudi Arabian clubs are interested in signing Manchester United striker Anthony Martial, and there’s a possibility that he might leave Old Trafford before the summer transfer window closes.
The 27-year-old did not participate in any matches for United during the pre-season due to a hamstring injury he sustained towards the end of the previous season.
He was named as an unused substitute in the team’s Premier League opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers last Monday.
The former AS Monaco striker made a brief appearance during the final five minutes of Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to league rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
The Red Devils currently have a shortage of options in the centre-forward position. Rasmus Hojlund, their new signing, is sidelined with a back issue, forcing Marcus Rashford to fill in as the centre-forward in the early part of the season.
Rashford has faced difficulties making an impact in matches against both Wolves and Spurs. Erik ten Hag needs to get Hojlund in the starting XI to sort out the goal-scoring issues.
However, the manager might also lose one of his own strikers amid the sudden surge of interest in Martial. The French star could potentially leave before the transfer window closes, with interest from several Saudi Pro League clubs. It has been stated that the financial offers from Saudi Arabian clubs could be more lucrative for Martial.
Al-Hilal, who had considered Martial as an option, have now signed Aleksandar Mitrovic from Fulham. Hence, the other clubs in the Middle Eastern League have a chance to strike a deal.
Martial, who joined Man United from Monaco in 2015, has made 299 appearances for the club, scoring 88 goals and providing 53 assists.
Last season, he played in 29 matches across all competitions and scored nine goals. The Red Devils are unlikely to agree to his departure without securing a suitable replacement.
Martial, despite his injury concerns, offers a different striking option, but his potential sale depends on the fee offered by the Saudi club.

If he departs, United would be left with Hojlund and Rashford as their only striker choices. Hence, the fee received for the striker would be very handy if the English giants plan to sign another player.
Alex Telles recently left Old Trafford to join Saudi side Al Nassr, and who knows, even Martial might follow a similar trend this summer.
