According to Norwegian outlet TV2 (h/t the Mirror), Manchester United have sent scouts to watch a highly-rated 16-year-old prodigy who is making waves in Scandinavian football.

Sverre Nypan, who plies his trade with Norwegian first-division club Rosenberg, became the youngest player in their history when he debuted at the tender age of 15.

He’s now solidifying his place as a regular on the first team. The midfielder has already amassed 19 senior appearances for his club and has contributed three goals at age group levels for the Norwegian national team.

The Red Devils have been closely tracking this young talent for approximately a year, with TV2 stating that they have sent scouts to watch him.

Despite his tender age, Nypan has already made a significant impact with two goals and four assists.

However, United won’t find it easy to get their player, as competition for the youngster is expected to be fierce, as top clubs in Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands have also shown interest.

However, Erik ten Hag’s team might hold an advantage, as TV2 reports that Nypan is a passionate Man United supporter who looks up to Cristiano Ronaldo as his idol.

Furthermore, Nypan’s playing style has drawn comparisons to that of Frenkie De Jong, a long-standing target for United, and someone who previously worked under the Dutch boss at Ajax.

Ten Hag will be keeping a close eye on the Norway star since he loves to work with young, hungry players.

He has given ample chances to players like Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, and now Amad Diallo during the pre-season games.

United’s interest in Nypan is not confirmed at this point, but he certainly remains an option for the club in the future.

Currently, the youngster has expressed that he has no intentions of departing from the club. Still, a move can’t be ruled out with such high interest in the European star.
