Fiorentina director Daniele Prade has not received any offer from Manchester United for Sofyan Amrabat
ACF Fiorentina have not yet received an official offer from Manchester United for midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, as confirmed by the Serie A club’s director, Daniele Prade.
The Red Devils are considering the addition of a new midfielder in the remaining summer transfer window. Their recent sale of Fred to Fenerbahce has opened up the possibility of a new midfield signing.
United’s last two Premier League matches have shown that Erik ten Hag’s starting XI has a major weakness.
It was evident that the team’s midfield was vulnerable at times, particularly with Casemiro often left isolated when the opposition launched counterattacks.
To provide more options in the centre of the field, Man United are closely observing Amrabat, who made a strong impression during the World Cup last winter.
Recent rumours suggest that the 26-year-old midfielder will leave his current Serie A club this summer.
And while providing more insights on the future of the African star, Fiorentina’s director, Prade, surprisingly revealed that the Italian outfit has not received any offers for the experienced player.
In an interview on the club’s official YouTube channel (h/t the Sun), he said:
“The situation is clear. He wants to join a top club and we want to satisfy him, but if we receive no offers, he will stay with us. We don’t have a player like him in the team.”
The Red Devil’s interest in the Moroccan star is no secret, but it is still a worrying sign that they have not made any bid for a player that might solve a number of problems for them.
The Serie A star is a player who can bring a lot of tactical options to the squad. Being a solid defensive midfielder, he can provide valuable competition for Casemio or also play alongside the former Real Madrid star in certain games.
Man United won’t have it easy this season, as they will be playing in the Champions League plus the usual cup competitions that they are a part of. Their current start to the league season has also exposed their midfield woes.
Hence, it is of utmost importance for Ten Hag and the club to conclude a deal for Amrabat as quickly as possible or risk facing the deadline day soon.
Fiorentina would be happy to retain their key player in case the English giants fail to make a move. This pushes them into the driver’s seat at this moment.
