Erik ten Hag reveals that Lisandro Martinez is available for Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed that Lisandro Martinez will be available for the game against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Red Devils will take on the North London side away from home on 19 August in the Premier League. In our previous match against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend, the Argentina international was forced off the pitch at half-time.
Back then, the gaffer had suggested that the centre-back was substituted against Gary O’Neil’s team after taking a knock. Thankfully, speaking to the media via Mirror, the Dutch manager gave a positive update on the 25-year-old.
“He was just training, so I think so, yeah.”
United signed Martinez in the summer of 2022 from Ajax Amsterdam. The defender reunited with Ten Hag at the Old Trafford side and has since been a key player for us.
While the Argentine’s stint at the Red Devils did not get off to the best of starts, he has formed a solid partnership with Raphael Varane over the last few months. The two centre-back seem to be the Dutch manager’s preferred duo in the backline.
Against Wolves, Victor Lindelof was brought on after the break. The Red Devils were arguably lucky to come away with the three points.
However, in the last few fixtures against Tottenham, United have had the bragging rights. We have not lost against the North London side in our last five games.
Spurs have also evidently lost quality in their attack with the departure of Harry Kane. Also, Ange Postecoglou was recently appointed their manager and is still looking to stamp his ideas on the Lilywhites.
